ACL and SXSW 2011

I returned once again to both ACL fest and SXSW again this year. A bit disappointed by the music line up at ACL but it was made up for by the great folks at BMI and Jill McGuckin PR. The party at the Gibson Room hosted by BMI was fantastic. Heard the music that continued on into SXSW. There is a roll back to early 1980s sound.....with a Motown feel. Back-up singers and horns accompanying a R&B front end. Being a part of that generation--the music both reminded me of a steamy slow dance and the awful hang over that comes from to much Boone's Farm.
SXSW was uniquel different this year (for me). Me and my companions were lucky enough to be invited to the Mayor's VIP party....again ran into Jill which is always a pleasure.....but the highlight was meeting Terry Gilliam....the second producer of the Austin City Limits (TV) and the man who made it what it has been for the last 30+ year. Also, re-connected with Henry Garza of Los Loney Boys and his producer/manager Kevin Wolmack. I was treated to a preview of their new album....nice to see the are getting a little more gritty. As always, it was fantastic.

Shout outs......Gogol Bordello--Gypsy and magic man was awesome, awesome, awesome!!
Suzanna Choffel - sultry voice, strong voice, absolutely beautiful--thanks Jill! She will be seen again and again.
